THE CRAFTSMEN OF COUNTRY CARPENTERS
by Fred Brehant

I love to look back to the early days of this fine country we live in, and I find the best place to do that is in front of a roaring fire in the center fireplace of my home. This winter, while reading a book called Connecticut Firsts by Wilson H. Faude and Joan W. Friedland, I found an interesting first. In 1818 the first knock-down or kit furniture was produced by Lambert H. Hitchcock in Riverton, Ct. These famous chairs were shipped in pre-cut parts and assembled upon delivery. His attention to detail allowed this kit idea to work wherever he shipped his chairs.
Our craftsmen at Country Carpenters carry on those same traditions today in 2019. Our Post & Beam carriage houses, garden sheds, country barns and cabin kits are painstakingly hand crafted right down to the smallest detail. Many of our craftsmen can be seen on our website in the video section producing these products that will last for generations to come. |

It’s this attention to detail that allowed us to partner with the TV show This Old House and provide a 1 ½ story saltbox barn for this season’s show. Along with being a garage/workshop for the homeowner, its rear roof is a solar platform station helping make his home Net zero . We have had several clients use our barns for solar panels– an idea with numerous benefits.
The possibilities are endless. You choose the model, add your options and make your Country Carpenters barn your own. Visit us online or stop out and see our village of models this spring and let us know how we can help you build the barn of your dreams. |
