NUTPLAINS IN THE SUN
By Max H. Peters

The only other time I had visited Nutplains (old spelling) it had rained like cats and dogs.  Dressed for the wet, I had enjoyed a walk through  this neighborhood of old houses a few miles north of Guilford, and promised myself a return trip in better weather.

Castle Ward. Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote that her window as a little girl was the one on the far right, covered by the tree.

The view of the East River from the small wooden bridge is exactly the same as what Harriet Beecher Stowe saw in 1816.
