Imperial Decorating and Upholstery, in business in West Hartford since the 1930s, is well known as one of the top choices of museums and private collectors for restoring Colonial and Victorian furniture. Less known about Imperial is the fine work they have done on later furniture, demonstrated by these before and after photos of a Mid-Century lounger, finished in black leather.
   Imperial fashioned the curved plywood, and the cushions were top-stitched, similar to the seats in an exotic Italian car.
