IMPERIAL DECORATING AND UPHOLSTERY
Imperial Decorating and Upholstery’s 5,000 sq. ft. building blends seamlessly into a leafy, quiet residential neighborhood in West Hartford. In business since 1932, Imperial has developed extensive expertise in re-upholstering antique and reproduction furniture from all periods, including Colonial, Colonial Revival, Victorian, Arts and Crafts, and Shaker.
On a recent visit, a busy Rob Gallinoto, grandson of the founder, showed me a cane chair that had just been rewoven for a client. The lost art of seat weaving is kept alive at Imperial. There were a couple of Eastlake chair frames that were ready to be re-upholstered I was also able to see for myself the tremendous variety of colors and designs available in Imperial’s fabric showroom. |
