COUNTRY CARPENTERS FEATURED ON PBS'S "THIS OLD HOUSE"
On Thursday evening, November 15, PBS’s “This Old House” included a sequence featuring Hebron’s Country Carpenters. This show marked the 40th anniversary of the most popular home improvement series in the history of television.
The show that night was about a Colonial- era house in Jamestown, Rhode Island, the crew of “This Old House” is helping restore. The owner of the house, who is also the architect on the restoration project, acquired a Country Carpenter’s Colonial style one- and-a-half story, post-and-beam, pre-fabricated saltbox barn. A segment of the program features the Country Carpenters crew erecting the barn next to the house. Careful attention is taken with the roof, which is fitted with solar panels. The house is set up on a Net Zero scenario, which means it only uses as much energy as it generates, and the barn helps make this possible by contributing solar power. The barn functions as a workshop and a garage, with a studio in the loft. Red cedar shingles on the roof match the finishing details on the house. |
