Roger, Sr. believed in the company philosophy which is stronger than ever and reminds us all to “Let the reward of our work provide our needs and bring Joy & Peace as it was intended.” Country Carpenters' first project was to take a 1700s barn and transform it into a beautiful post and beam home. Ever since that first project, we have been passionate about helping people build beautiful country places. We now offer period style homes, post and beam barns, and a variety of complementary outbuildings in the form of professionally engineered, pre-manufactured, color-coded building kits. Our buildings can be found in almost every state in the union, and some have even shipped overseas. As we celebrate our 50-year anniversary in 2024, it is still our desire to help people like you fulfil your dreams of owning a beautiful country place. In doing so, we are excited to announce the establishment of Early New England Homes and Post and Beam Barns, both operating under the parent company, Country Carpenters.
As always, Post & Beam Barns pay tribute to those stalwart barns of old. With their rugged post & beam design they still play a major role in facilitating the work of our hands, although that “work” has changed, somewhat.
Primarily our barns are used for vehicle storage, with some designed for two daily drivers with additional utility space, to large multiple bay two-story barns, with vehicle lifts for the hot rod enthusiast or serious collector. Often used by the whole family, our traditional structures are recreation and hobby spaces too, like pool houses, game rooms, home gyms, wood shops, potting sheds, yoga studios, art studios, craft and sewing rooms, photography studios, fly-tying shops and the list goes on and on. A growing trend with some of our New England style outbuildings is their use as a small business, both in backyard settings as well as commercially zoned. Our barns have been used as craft stores, garden centers, farm stands, antique shops, breweries & wineries, a hair salon, commercial woodworking shops & blacksmith shops and myriad more. And although not as often, some of our barns are still used for livestock.
With a variety of classic styles and size variations, numerous hand-made options, and an option to insulate, the only limit to our Post & Bean Barns is your imagination.
Early New England Homes continues to specialize in authentic Cape Cod, Saltbox, Gambrel, and Colonial style homes handcrafted to suit each client’s unique needs and lifestyle. We’ve engineered a unique open architecture, timbered ceiling system that works with conventionally framed walls, allowing many of the charming characteristics of early New England to be incorporated into a home with today’s modern conveniences.
Each old-world style we offer is available in our standard 30’x 38’ footprint, or smaller 26’x 34’. Square footage can be further customized by adding our traditional Ell and/ or Wing option(s).
This complete home building system includes fully engineered building plans, our unique pre-cut timbered ceiling, pre-cut wall studs, and pre-cut rafters. ENEH works closely with local builders to recreate these beautiful period designs which are based on 250-year-old homes that still dot the New England landscape today.
By designing simple yet beautiful living spaces that build on the wisdom and experience of past generations, ENEH has rediscovered just how much value a home can add to your life. Families raising children, empty nesters looking for their own retreat, or even grandparents will find that an Early New England Home is where their heart is.
We appreciate those who share the love for early New England and have an interest in our truly handcrafted barns, homes, and outbuildings. We sincerely hope our work brings joy & peace as it was intended. |
