After four decades in Bridgeport, Dragone Classic Motorcars closed its doors on Main Street in Bridgeport in June and relocated to a new 66,000 square-foot facility in Orange at 5 Connair Road. The new facility consolidates Dragone’s restoration and Westport-based showroom operation under one roof.
“It’s sad because we love Bridgeport, the history of Bridgeport. Bridgeport is very rich in history and even with automobile history,” says executive vice president Alex Dragone, referring to the former Locomobile Company of America that was near Seaside Park along with Trummull Car that was also in Bridgeport.
Bridgeport natives Manny and George Dragone started the business. They were born in Bridgeport and their father was a car collector, leading them to open in their hometown. They originally opened on Dover Street in 1978 before relocating to their Main Street headquarters seven years later. |
