Broken Shore

Walking together,a winding bluff
Over the sea,
Sunset and early moon;
Flames of autumn plenty –

Below, waves break, rolling in
Rising to toast the shore with
A pirate party’s riotous, lacy cuffs

Drawn clouds streak overhead in
the far flung sky -
raised eyelashes from a magazine spread

My heart full,
This happy moment of belief
We sharing laughter,a secret certainty
Sketching the future as done
We bet the world

How little we know what is to come.
