A PASSION FOR AMERICANA
Phil Volk, an orthopedic surgeon in Plattsburg, New York explains “My interest in Americana Art developed as an offshoot to my Early America antique collecting which began thirty years ago in Baltimore.” Volk collected Currier and Ives and Will Moses serigraphs. “Christopher Gurshin’s work has always appealed to me from his Storytelling ability. I can view one of Chris’s paintings and imagine myselftransported into the scene.” |

Volk contacted Gurshin, visited him at his studio in Glastonbury, and over the past ten years has put together one of the largest collections of Gurshin’s internationally acclaimed work, consisting of large paintings, small paintings, painted tins, signs, carved houses large and small, class mural paintings, many sketches and drawings, barrel stave art, posters and old calendar collections. |
