MINIATURE HOUSES

Since I first began in 1966 I always liked working with wood of all kinds, creating tavern signs and making them look old. Later on I was influenced by the simplistic Rufus Porter paintings with middle ground and distant houses , I thought at that time that I would also like to create three dimensional houses.

When I am making the houses, I put my mind back a couple of centuries ago when they might have been made for little ones to play with. Over the years of use they would have aged worn and that is what is in my mind as I create the twenty five steps to the finished pieces. There are all sizes, seasons, subjects, colors and some have even copper cut out accents. I have made the primitive house collection to include scenery.
